Build your checklist

“She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet.”Proverbs 31:21 (NKJV)

1Tell us about your family

This shapes your checklist and the quantities, so it includes only what your household needs.

Does your area face any of these? (optional, adds items for your area)

2Check off what you already have

Tick each item you already have on hand. For items with a quantity, type how many you have. Anything you’re missing goes on your list. Your progress saves on this device.

Remember to check it:

Each button saves a calendar file. Open it and your calendar app will offer to add the reminder. The weekly one helps while you are still gathering items. Nothing is sent to us.

The blank checklist is for the fridge or your go-bag. The plan page has room for contacts, meeting places, and more.

This checklist is general guidance based on commonly shared preparedness recommendations (such as 1 gallon of water per person per day). Quantities are estimates, so adjust for your family and always follow instructions from your local officials. Review your kit and check expiration dates twice a year.

Common questions

Is the emergency checklist builder free?

Yes. It is free to use, and you do not need to sign up with your email.

Where are my checkmarks saved?

Only in this browser on this device. Nothing you enter is sent to us. If you clear your browser data or use a different device, your checkmarks will not be there.

What is the difference between the go-bag and the home stash?

The go-bag is what you would grab if you had to leave fast. The home stash is what you keep at home to stay put.

How are the amounts worked out?

The checklist uses commonly shared preparedness guidance, such as 1 gallon of water per person per day, and multiplies it by the people, pets and days you choose. The amounts are estimates, so adjust them for your family and follow instructions from your local officials.

How often should we check our kit?

Review your kit and check expiration dates twice a year. The “Add a twice-a-year reminder” button saves a calendar file that reminds you every six months.

Is this professional advice?

No. This checklist is general guidance. For guidance where you live, contact your local emergency management office.
